Serving Those with Disabilities

Accessible Entrances at East and West Sides of Zion

West Entrance:
A handicap-accessible ramp leads from the ground level up to a handicap-accessible door to the church. A wheelchair is stored in the hallway near the entrance.

East Entrance with Canopy and Elevator:
Our newly renovated East entrance is protected by a canopy to shelter people dropped off from vehicles. The east entrance features a large sliding glass door and two handicap-accessible doors at the ground level. Adjacent to this entrance is an elevator that serves all three floors of Zion (Lower level for Sunday School and meeting rooms, 1st floor Worship Space and Parish Hall and offices, and 2nd floor, for offices, choir room, and Sunday School classrooms).

Note: As a security precaution, the east entrance is generally locked from the outlsde on weekdays, and unlocked for use on days when we worship. It is always possible to exit from the east doors.

Accessibility Inside Zion

Elevator:
The elevator serves the ground floor at the East Entrance, and all three floors of Zion (Lower level for Sunday School and meeting rooms, 1st floor Worship Space and Parish Hall and offices, and 2nd floor for offices, Choir Room, and Sunday School classrooms).

On the main floor (1st floor), the elevator can be accessed near the women's restroom. On the 2nd floor, the elevator is accessed in a room near the east stairway. On the lower level, the elevator is accessed near the east stairway.

Accessible Worship

  • Hearing devices are located on the main floor¬†near the large bell, just outside the worship space.¬†
  • For people with¬†wheelchairs, walkers,¬†crutches, and strollers, a¬†shorter¬†front pew is placed in the front row, on the east side of the worship space. This allows extra space for access and storing equipment.
  • If you are unable to come to the rail for communion, a pastor will be happy to serve you in your seat.¬†
  • Seat Cushions are available for sitting comfort. Ask an usher for help locating them.
